OUR COVID-19 POLICY

During these difficult and unprecedented times of the COVID-19 virus, the health and safety of the families we serve is our main priority.

If you would like to make arrangements or speak directly with us, but prefer to be in the comfort of your own home, please call us at 401-821-7306 (in Coventry) or 401-596-2352 (in Westerly) and we will assist you over the phone. For those of you who need to reach me immediately, you may call me on my cell at 401-447-2790.

Please understand that as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, requirements from the RI Department of Health may also change, which in turn, would dictate what can be done within the funeral home and any other public gathering place.

Our caring staff of funeral professionals have always provided service, compassion, and comfort during a difficult time, and this time is no different. We will continue to be here and give you peace of mind in your time of loss, by handling all of the details and arrangements of your loved one’s funeral or cremation service, with complete professionalism, compassion, and care.

For over 80 years we have served families in our community and throughout Rhode Island. With 2 locations: Coventry, (which also includes a private Cremation Center) and Westerly, all offering personalized funeral, burial, or cremation services that are held with care, compassion, dignity and respect.

Our facilities have been upgraded and offer natural lighting through our windows and skylights, state of the art music sound systems, a large, well lit 100+ car parking lot and of course, comfortable seating for families, friends and the community.

Serenity Cremation Center / Family Witness Room

Our crematory is not in a garage or warehouse, but is located close to our chapels and community rooms - across our newly expanded parking lot, which comfortably holds up to 100 vehicles. We have a sofa and chairs in the crematory and a witness area where families may participate in the process if they wish, hold a private memorial, or enjoy refreshments and fellowship following the cremation ceremonies. Not all families desire to be present for any part of the cremation process, but for those that do, we felt it was important to provide dignified and comfortable facilities. At our new location, the Serenity Cremation Center we welcome tours, inspections, and participation at any level that is meaningful to you.

“Cremation is becoming an ever more popular alternative to traditional burial for a wide variety of reasons,” states Alfred Menard, owner and funeral director. “The installation of a new state-of-the art cremation unit means that all facets of the cremation process will take place on location - at the funeral home, thereby assuring our client families of complete accountability and exacting standards throughout the cremation process”, Menard said. “This also allows for families to be present during the cremation process if they should desire, a request that is prevalent in many religions and cultures. We adhere to the highest industry standards; the Serenity Cremation Center offers families that choose cremation many options. From a full committal service in our chapel to a small family gathering in our witness room, we strive to meet our community’s needs.”

Everything is done ethically and in a dignified manor. We use a vacuum process to collect the cremated remains so you can be assured that all available remains are returned to you and your family in the container you selected.
